Large blanket with Soft Top

You need:

1 yard of fabric; I like a mix of 1/2 yard minky and 1/2 yard cotton print for contrast.

sewing stuff like scissors, thread, sewing machine (or if you’re crazy, needle and thread), and a seam ripper

Cut one cotton piece of fabric to 30×30

Cut your minky piece to 30×36

lay these pieces face to face, with the 6 inches hanging off. Sew around three sides where the fabric lines up.

Then, fold the minky edge over on itself (this will make a soft minky top panel). Make sure to overlap it a little over the cotton so you have a seam to sew.

Sew the sides of the minky-matched up fabric, then turn the blanket right side out. Sew around the whole thing to create sturdy edges.

Then, hand stitch or machine sew the opening closed, making a nice strait line with the rough seem edges hidden. I like to decorative stitch over the close. The blanket will be approx. 29 x 32.
